I was originally recruited to act as Matt’s concubine on this trip since he has a history of burning out on long business trips – I guess the idea was the power of my presence would eliminate the possibility of gastrointestinal problems and general malaise, but I rarely saw him and when we were together our eyelids tended to shut involuntarily. It was kind of a stinker.
Instead I hung out with my work pal, Stephen (see fish tacos), went to Tempe to visit my “best good friend” (see drove 500 miles/pantslessness), and spent too much money (see haircut and cute things). I felt like some kind of sucker when I told my boss this morning that I really enjoy working on field tests since everyone bemoans them, but then I remembered that I really only worked one long (16 hour) day and most of my trip was spent hanging out and sucking up all the Bravo TV I could.
I took pictures, only one of them was of Yuma and it was taken from the plane on the way into the city – so I’m saying it is Yuma but that cannot be confirmed. I kept thinking about Michael as I drove around the place, remembering that he lived in his car in the city for some number of nomadic months. It’s a nice place to visit but I would want to live there, in my car or otherwise. Although it is possible that it beats Spotsylvania.
